EnergyAustralia says that it was due to a fault in four major power cables that supply large electricity sub-stations. The fault was detected and power was shutdown due to safety reasons.

I had no idea it was so bad until I googled it! There was no power running in the city for a little over 2 hours! I though something was weird when my bus went down Oxford Street and there were no lights switched on in shops, switched off traffic lights and police directing traffic.

hahaha I've had so many mates copping black outs and i've been sitting at home messing around on my much loved electricity.
sucks for businesses though hah xP
