In one of my marketing classes we have a 10% component for class participation. To make the tutors' lives easier they implement a money system.
Quite simply, if you talk in class (as in say something constructive, not talk about Miss. X with her bad dye job) you get a little green 1 million dollar note, seen in the photo below. Turn it over, fill out your name and student number and then hand in all the ones you earned at the end of the class.
At the end of the semester your class participation mark will depend on how much money you earned in the semester.
In yesterday's class we learned about reference groups; your peers, your co-workers etc. Pretty much everyone who has an influence on you as a person.
Towards the end of yesterday's class we were assigned an activity to create a print ad to encourage Australians to reduce water consumption. It had to use reference group theory, be creative and be viable.
And this is the ad that we came up with:
It's a group of girls all standing at a sink brushing their teeth but all you see the backs of their head and the reflection of their faces where they're all giving disapproving looks to the girl on the end. She's happily brushing her teeth with the tap running which is where we got the tag line at the bottom; is YOURS still running?
My tutor likes to get a little competition going so all 4 groups were competing for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place with the prizes of $3 mil, $2 mil and $1 mil respectively.
And guess what? We ended up winning!!! And I was the one who came up with the idea for the ad! YIPPY!
